Leeds is bursting with great music to go see in so many amazing venues, and for some of them you don’t even have to pay
1. Brudenell Social Club, 33 Queens Road, LS6 1NY.
Brudenell Social Club is a very well established venue in Leeds, known for the array of different artists they welcome on their stage. Every month they put on a handful of shows for free where you can go and see local up and coming musicians doing their thing.
2. LS6 Café, 16 Headingley Lane, LS6 2AS.
LS6 Café is the place to be for all your midweek entertainment needs. They hold their weekly jazz nights showcasing new artists alongside some professionals. They also host an array of other free nights for up and coming DJ’s to play their stuff and spin some records even including a monthly Reggae night which is very popular, so there is always plenty to choose from.
3. Headrow House, 19 The Headrow, LS1 6PU.
Headrow house is a very popular venue known for their bar and rooftop, but they also put on some pretty cool shows. Now they don’t host free gigs as often as the others, but keep your eyes peeled for when they do each month as you can catch some amazing local artists.
4. Oporto, 33 Call Lane, LS1 7BT.
Head down to Oporto on Monday nights to start off your week in the right way and see some of the best up and coming artists there is in Leeds play their best music. What better way to lift your Monday blues than to listen to some great music.
5. Hyde Park Book Club, 27-29 Headingley Lane, LS6 1BL.
Hyde Park Book Club, despite what the name specifically suggests, is a cozy little café and bar that hosts a free showcase every Thursday. Including Local Jazz musicians, and plenty of other genres. Including a monthly open turntables night were anyone can bring their music and be a DJ for a night.
6. Distrikt, 7 Duncan Street, LS1 6DQ.
Distrikt are dedicated to showcasing some of the best electronic music there is. Loads of local new artists at pretty much every event they host. Every week they hold events with bands and DJ’s to bring the people of Leeds some top quality music.
7. Northern Guitars , 41 Call Lane, LS1 7BT
Northern Guitars is a quaint little bar/café/ that hosts an open mic night every Monday for local artists or anyone in fact to play some music, they even provide a guitar to play on if you haven’t got one of your own. A great place with a fun relaxed atmosphere somewhere you definitely want to be after a long Monday.
8. Hifi Club, 2 Central Road, LS1 6DE.
After a busy week of seeing some amazing live music, end It on a high note on a Sunday at Hifi Club to see their longstanding showcase of great funk, hip-hop and latin music with various bands and DJ’s playing every week.
