Walrus is a start-up music company based in Manchester, founded by a young lad called Jack Toole in 2019. the Company aims to help give a platform to new up and coming artists with a growing team of creatives behind it. Not only do they want to make their mark in the music industry, but they have also teamed up with the mental health charity Mind, in a ‘Be Kind to Your Mind’ campaign to raise money and awareness in a fight against Depression and other mental illnesses. Their goal is to raise a massive 10k for the charity this year by putting on a host of gigs around the UK featuring the best new local artists around.
They will also release four editions of the Walrus Magazine this year with proceeds going to the charity. The Magazine features the work of many creatives such as musicians, photographers and journalists, and you can tell that the magazine has been created by people who are extremely passionate about Walrus and everything they stand for.
They recently put on a launch event for the company and campaign, at Manchester’s Off the Square venue in the Northern Quarter of the City. A small but great place to make your mark which they definitely did! The night consisted of live music from Manifesto, Delights, Ben Freeman and more, the room was filled with supportive friends and fans all there to show love and support for something that they strongly believe in. The first edition of the magazine was being sold throughout the night, and the expressions on everyone’s faces showed how happy and proud they were to see all the hard work of the Walrus team pay off. The room was filled with such a buzz all night it was great to see the start of something so brilliant and to see that the creators are so passionate about it. Once the event had finished it was very clear that this night was just the start, with the team recruiting more and more creatives and plans of bringing their events outside of Manchester, to Leeds and more already in full swing, this is just the beginning of Walrus so keep your eyes peeled and join the Be Kind to Your mind campaign and donate here:
