With the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic it has led to Universities being closed and students being asked to submit work from home. It’s a very different and challenging time for everyone and it is something no-one has experience of. It’s a case of trying to keep busy day to day as there's only so much Netflix you can binge watch and only so many times you can scroll through the same apps before you get fed up.
Although this sounds like a dream for students who now get to have all the free time in the world, when there’s no-where to go it gets very boring very quickly. I decided to interview some students and find out what they’ve been getting up to during the Easter holiday.

“I’ve been trying to do a new make-up look each day, as well as taking up pottery making, sewing and creating illustrations. I’m starting to find each day quite repetitive but doing different things each day and trying to stay creative, so I don’t get fed up.”
Ellie posts some of her make up looks to her TikTok account as well as on her make up page on instagram.

“I don’t feel that bad about this lockdown and not being able to go out. I think it's because I decided to leave University before this all happened and to enroll at a different one in September, so I've had a lot of free time before this and I’m sort of used to it now. I’ve been sunbathing a lot in the garden, as well as going for dog walks and learning how to bake and cook new things. It is annoying some days though; all I want to do when the suns shining is sit in a beer garden with my mates”.

“I’ve been trying to distract myself as much as I can, trying new things that I haven’t done before. I’ve been doing a 30-day yoga challenge which is keeping me motivated and it gives me something to do each day. I’ve also been baking and cooking more which I always enjoy, and I get my parents to try everything I make so it keeps me busy for a few hours. It is boring and depressing some days but weirdly, it feels quite normal”.

“The situation at the minute hasn’t really affected me too much, I think it's because I've had so much uni work to do and so many deadlines coming up that if things were normal, id still have to stay in and do work rather than go out. Apart from doing work I've been staying busy by painting again, I used to do it a lot but it's something you need a lot of time for. I’m trying to find new hobbies which is keeping me busy, but I do miss my friends”.

“I’m getting quite bored of being stuck in, but I've been trying to bake and cook something new each day for me and my mum whether it’s a new dessert or something for tea. I’ve also been drawing and colouring, as well as trying to get out daily by walking my dog which is quite peaceful. It’s just a case of taking each day as it comes and trying to still keep a routine”.

In terms of what I've been doing myself to stay busy aside from work. I’ve been doing zoom quizzes with my family and friends which is nice as I miss seeing them all. I’ve also been drawing and colouring as I'm trying to take up new hobbies. I love cooking too so I've been making new recipes and attempting cocktail making:
