We're approaching the 4th week of lockdown here in the UK and although considerably uneventful, I've certainly learnt some valuable things over the past month that I thought I'd share.
I don't spend enough time reading.

With little stuff in the house to keep me preoccupied I found myself searching through the bookcase to pass the time. I often find myself wasting hours at a time scrolling through social media, however lockdown has helped me create better habits - putting my phone down and reading a book (although I am still guilty of scrolling through Tik Tok when I should be sleeping).
It's okay to take a break.
During this lockdown period it's easier than ever to feel unmotivated and subsequently feel guilty about doing nothing productive, especially if you see people completing home workouts everyday all over social media. But sometimes the best and only thing you can do is simply get through the day - even if that does consist of laying on the sofa watching Netflix.
I should spend more time on my hobbies.

Before I turned 18 I used to spend the majority of my weekends out and about photographing. Although it isn't something I aim to peruse in the future, it is something I enjoy doing in my spare time - and that I have plenty of at the moment.
I'm not as fit as I thought I was.
Like many others I decided to put on my trainers (which haven't been worn in a very long time, hence the dirt) and use my daily exercise effectively, whether that's a home workout or a run. Little did I realise how unfit I actually am. An online PE lesson that I completed (or tried to) with my 8 year old sister left me with aches and pains for days - I'm leaving the workouts to her from now on.
Letters and cards should be sent more frequently.

Technology has made it incredibly easy to send a message with little thought, so when I unexpectedly received this card from my grandparents it truly made my week. Especially during times as challenging as these sending a loved one a personalised message is a lovely idea.
I'd love to know what you've learnt during lockdown so far, get involved and drop us a message using the hashtag #LeedsCreatives.
